Why We Block VPNs, Tor, Proxies, and Relays
Unfortunately, many malicious actors use VPNs, Tor, proxies, and relay services to mask their identity when trying to
scrape content, exploit our platform, or cause harm. Just recently, we experienced an attack involving over 300,000
'users' coming from a botnet, attempting to steal content. Thanks to our security measures, including Cloudflare and
invisible captcha, we successfully blocked the attack without any performance issues.
However, this highlights the reality that these tools are often used for malicious purposes, which is why we've had to
block access for users attempting to open content on the site while using these services. As a result, your 'keys'
(access credentials) won't work unless you disable these privacy tools and connect to the site using your home IP or
mobile data.
Why Mobile Data or LTE Can Also Cause Issues
Sometimes, using mobile data or LTE can affect your ability to access content, as the IP address associated with mobile
networks may be flagged by our security tools. This can occasionally result in access issues, similar to what happens
when using a VPN, Tor, or proxy.
VPN Access for Paid Subscribers
We understand that turning off your VPN or privacy tools can be uncomfortable, and we offer more flexibility for those
who support Leakshaven through paid subscriptions. If you are a paying member, you are allowed to use a VPN while logged
into your account. This allows our supporters to enjoy full access to the site while we maintain the necessary security
measures to prevent malicious activity.
